2024 Spring Symposium: Black Immigration and Public Policy
The Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis (IUPRA) invites you to our Spring 2024 Symposium on Black Immigration and Public Policy.
Over the past few decades, significant increases have been observed in the number of Black immigrants arriving in North America and other regions beyond Africa. However, compared to the increased attention given to immigration issues in public discourses, the attention given to the immigration and integration of Black immigrants has been limited. The Institute for Urban Policy Research and Analysis at the University of Texas at Austin will be organizing a Spring 2024 symposium that seeks to elevate the significance of Black immigrants in these discourses. The symposium will be held at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center in Austin, TX on April 3, 2024. It will provide a forum for scholars, practitioners, and other participants to examine the social, economic, and political dimensions of these movements as well as their implications for public policy.
The institute invites submissions from authors exploring various aspects of the relationship between Black immigration and public policy. These could include, but are not limited to, submissions that address (a) immigration-related issues such as specific immigration policies, undocumented status, and refugee movements, as well as (b) the social incorporation of Black immigrants as reflected in their labor mark
